Noticed a couple things tonight 3 Weeks, 1 Day ago
going to bike night,a rough vibration under me,happens on acceleration and cruising over 60 and under 40.I checked the belt for tension and it seems loose,I can twist it halfway around with two fingers pretty easy, will this cause that rough vibration I'm feeling and a loss of power it seems on acceleration?I'm new to the belt scene. Also when hitting bumps or driving on bumpy roads,I feel something loose up front,it's not the bars, feels like it's in the forks or wheel.Any ideas on that?

Check this thread lots of suggestions..also sounds like your belt might be loose, the rule of thumb is grab the belt midway between the pulleys and you should be able to twist it 45 degrees....Coug

Raise the front end off the ground, grab the front wheel and jerk it up and down to isolate the cause.

OK, I got the front end off the ground today and shook it and I'm getting nothing, held the forks straight and let go,they stayed straight,I went over every nut and bolt on that front end and can't find the clutter I'm feeling.Could it be the wheel bearings by chance?I tightened the belt and that problem is gone.I went by a yammy dealership and told a mechanic about the front end,he said it was normal and these bikes have a little play in the neck. That answer didn't make me feel any better, hell this is an 06' with 2500 miles on it,shouldn't it be tight as a frogs ass?

The front end should fall to one side .... but not too fast.

Don't usually go that fast.

Are you sure your tires are pumped to at least 35 psi?

Front tire should be OK at 2500 but check for cupping.

Check all motor bolts.

My front tire is starting to show some weird wear in the middle of the tire,I have pressure at 40 psi,I have noticed when I push the bike into the garage I can hear the brake pads rubbing the rotors, there's still a half inch of pad left on each.

That may be your problem. The OEM tires have a tendency to wear unevenly which cause some 'vibrations' ... you know ... like the Beach Boys.

This is a light clatter that I'm feeling, like metal on metal,to me it sounds like something is loose. The tires are Metzlers, are those stock?I've always been wary of dual brakes up front,my old man always told me if one disc will get the job done then I'm good, but two will cause more probs than they are worth.Guess I'll have to take the whole front end apart to find this little gremlin!

No Metz is not the stock tire.

So what mods do you have?
