oil on the rear header pipe 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
The last couple of times when i get back from a ride (highway) i noticed oil on the rear header pipe. I have put 12,000 kms on this r* since i owned it and never had this problem before.
It has a K&N big air type filter system, and it only has 4 quarts of oil in it.
Anyone have this problem before? i heard if you put 4 liters in this could happen.

thanks

New K&N filter or did you just oil the filter recently? If it's eaither of those it's probably filter oil.

Its the same filter that was in the bike when i bought it. I cleaned it about a month ago and since put close to 3000 kms on it.
When i took the filter of there was a lot of oil in the bottom of the housing. Cleaned it up went for a 200 km today and when i got back it was there again.

So you still have the crankcase vent hose hooked up to the air cleaner?

Take the hose off the cleaner and run it out the bottom of the bike. Plug the hole in the air cleaner the hose hooked up to. When you change oil are you getting 4 qts out of the bike when you drain it?

not sure if it's only 4 quarts but i will measure it the next oil change. that's what i had to do with the hose on my old xs1100 because it use to dip on the engine after build up in the air box.
Do this mean the crank case has extra pressure for some unknown reason?

only 4 quarts

The concern is if it isn't 4 qts. If you are only getting out say 3 then you would basically have 2 quarts left in the motor. Add 4 and you have 6 qts in there now.
