Front End Noob Question 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Silly Question.....are the front ends on some of the R* customs getting around the stock one minus the tins to give it the skinny look obviously the trees are custom in the link below but if I get a set of the 6 degree raked trees I see on alot of sites and use my forks is the below a good example of the outcome? looking to go to a 21inch front wheel with custome fender as I like the look if this is the case, considered getting a midnight chrome front end, however got a big shock when I rang Yamaha here in Brisbane (Australia) and they dont have the parts listed at all aaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! don't stack your midnight if you live in Australia parts could be hard to get.... even tryed wreckers and ebay about all you get here on ebay is brake pads for the R*, I appreciate any feed back as I am preparing myself for the fact I will need to import alot of stuff from you guys in the States and Canada.

Those look like aftermarket front ends. You can remove the covers to give it a "skinnier" look.

There are some who have polished their front ends as well.

The trees in those pics are not stock but the legs are.

If you take off the tins the lower tree is black and has tabs where the lower tins screw into ... looks quite ugly without tins. Some have ground the tabs off and repainted.

There are a number of aftermarket vendors of trees, from 3 to 7 degree running about $6-800 USD. Choice depends on the style that you want. I believe there is only one vendor of trees which accommodate the stock tins, but then there are other problems you need to be aware if you go that direction.

If you can't get a Midnight front end then you can chrome you parts or polish them.
