I have an 07 * and was having some idle and cruising problems the other day. The WOT and acceleration is fine. But idle and cruising is rough and it wants to die at idle and backfire on decel. Bike ran great the other day, covered it up. Week later started her up with the choke like normal and everything seemed ok, til started sputtering down the street would barely run without choke on. Found my breather collar was loose. Tightened that up and the bike seemed to run fine. Now it's running rough again. Two tanks of fuel since problem from different stations. Tried carb cleaner and MMO. 2000 miles? Any more suggestions? Thanks in advance |

This sucks, three weekends wasted on this. I guess it's time to take it to the stealer and see what they say.

It almost sounds like you might still have an air leak somewhere Liferider1. Or a clogged jet, but it's only gone a couple thousand miles. What a pain.

Liferider, what is your PMS set to? It could help to give it a half turn out to check if that's it. When you're getting backfire on decel it can mean your PMS is lean.
I was getting the same thing at 2 1/2 turns until I took it out more. I have her set at 2 7/8's now.  |

Still could be an air leak somewhere. Check around your breather,manifold,and where your mufflers and header pipes are joined.
What is the idle set at. Just something to kick around. |

Stock bike ... running good ... put it away for a week and started it up and now it runs badly. You did noting to it in between?
Won't run unless choke is on?
First try draining the fuel bowl.
If that does not help, clean or replace the two fuel filters.
Take the carb apart and thoroughly clean all the jets and passages.
