Soba, there's an inline filter at the inlet fitting of the carb too. One of those "gotchas".

It almost sounds like you might still have an air leak somewhere Liferider1. Or a clogged jet, but it's only gone a couple thousand miles. What a pain.

I know. I checked everywhere for leaks. None found. Jets clear... COuld a malfunctioning AIS cause this?

Liferider, what is your PMS set to? It could help to give it a half turn out to check if that's it. When you're getting backfire on decel it can mean your PMS is lean.

I was getting the same thing at 2 1/2 turns until I took it out more. I have her set at 2 7/8's now.

I have never adjusted the PMS. It seems to be a very sudden change. Ran great, shut down, cooled off and covered. Next start up ran like crap. I would suspect my wife put sugar in the tank, but I don't even think she would know how to get the gas cap off. JK

Stock bike ... running good ... put it away for a week and started it up and now it runs badly. You did noting to it in between?

Won't run unless choke is on?

First try draining the fuel bowl.

If that does not help, clean or replace the two fuel filters.

Take the carb apart and thoroughly clean all the jets and passages.

Yes

Drained bowl

Checked Jets

Checked the filter on the pump not the carb.

If it was a fuel delivery problem wouldn't it run worse under accel.? Stealer says unless it's a defective part they charge for diagnosis and repair. This seems ridiculous for a bike with 2000 miles on it that 3 mos. old. If the carb is clogged, how did debris from fuel I put in make it through two filters in to the carb.? Thank you for your suggestions though they are helping me eliminate possibilities.

The carb filter is sintered and is meant to filter very fine partilces vs the in line paper filter which is a very coarse filter.
