Barons 930lb Spring 4 Months, 1 Week ago
Today I order a 930 lb spring and install tool from Barons. Once back on my feet I will be installing. Can anyone who installed one found the optimum preload setting yet? If so can you post it here? Thanks

I've ordered one for my Roadie, as I do lot of 2-up riding. Never have thought about adjusting the preload..... even with the bike being stock.

Think it would make much difference......?

billjr is right. i've got a 1k spring & heavy duty front srings. i'm 6'3''/285lbs,BIG improvement over stock, but i've had to play with the preload to get it where i like it .for long distance two up riding i'll rachet it up a little tighter for short two up rides , i go a little slower

I just put my Barons spring on today and it made a nice difference I tightened the preload nuts to a thread just showing on top of them. I ride mostly one up, BUT my one up is 415lbs about what the R* max load is.
good call on the Barons spring tool. I thought the Progressive Suspension spring tool looked good and Since JP Cycles had it listed in the R* parts I got one. It does not work on the R* shock
Fortunately I rigged up my lathe and didn't blow any parts around the shop.

I installed the 930 on my 07 roadi and have it set at min and it rides great Im 450 so it stopped all the bottom out problems. My 15 year old son rides with me on our escourts and it still takes bumps without bottoming out.It does squat some and with some adjustment it would level out.

I am 220 and the co pilot is 125. We do a lot of 2 up and also have the new trailer. I am very concerned with the preload being correct as I strongly suspect that my stock preload was too light and ultimately caused our crash last June.
