I am looking into my options as far as going after his parents to help "make me whole" and possibly avoid having the claim on my insurance. I'm not trying to get rich off of his mistake, but I have paid for my mistakes, now it is his turn. By no means am I offering this bike yet, I just have no idea what the value of a salvage title Roadie would be. Like I said, what someone would reasonably pay would be some very helpful info. Thanks again, and hopefully, I will have a reason to stay a member of this forum. The key is to be sure that the impact to the stop did not distort the lower bearing housing for the triple tree. They did not dimantle the bike to do it. Just removed the forks. The mechanic dod tell me that he would write the bike off if I wanted them to because of that. i said no because i like the bike and the damage was only cosmetic except for the stop. Now you have a great opportunity to chop the heck out of your Roadie! Most of us ride around wanting to really hack away at it but not having the gumption, skills or cash to do so. Now you can take a shot at it and risk nearly nothing! Rake it, 18" over springer, hardtail, go 70's crazy!
