Riding Impressions - Vibrations/ Comfort 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Ya'll,

This is my first post to this site. I owned a 2000 Road Star and liked it - except the seat was very uncomfortable. I am considering a new 2008 FI 1700 and I need get some impressions from the collective. With the 5 speed do you feel any intrusive vibrations at 75-80 MPH?
Are the newer seat more comfortable? I plan to have my seat redone anyway (Russell Day Long or my local seat man will redo it and make it WIDE and FLAT) then I'll put an Air Hawk on it.
Also, my plan is to have the 2 into 1 Yamaha pipe put on with the Comp. Air Kit. Has anyone had this done? What are your impressions?

I believe the '05s and up have slightly wider seats Denny Lee. As far as vibrations, my '07 vibrates at 75-80 but not to a point where it annoys me. It's really an individual opinion. Maybe some of those who have '08s can give you a better opinion.

I don't know about the seat,,,,but it's stock, if ya know whar I mean.

No R* should have any vibration at 75-80, thta's what they love & everything is good - just cruising speed.

Welcome

I agree with ya there,my 06' runs smooth as silk at 70 and above,it's the slower speeds that cause vibration and weird sounds.

Can't speak to the 08, but i know my 2006 does like to run 70-80....i have to keep pulling it back in. Marylands finest like being out at 0400 and if you go much more than 70 they stop and invite you to visit the county seat. Speaking of seat, I'll bet its pretty much the same as your old one...hard and uncomfortable. Most do get something done to theirs. I contacted Russell, but never got any response, so i cut them from my possible list of custom seat manufacturers. Either way, I know you'll enjoy the bike...and the guys here.
