HK Res- Tec's hitting case after install 4 Months ago
|
|
Just installed a set of HK 3" Res-Tec's. All went well except for the front pipe is tight against the case near the starter. Havent riden yet, so i can give no input on performance.
Looking for any sugestion's or input to see is correctable befor picking up the phone and calling HK.
BTW there was very little play when all was "loose fitted". Did the install as per instruction's and tip's from the forum
Any one have jetting spec's for a stock air box w/ these pipes

I've found a minor tweak of the PMS might be necessary (plus removing the AIS), but no re-jetting, since you're not altering the air intake.

My concern is ....HK reccomends or say's "to achieve optimum performance we suggest installing the Dynojet jet kit" . Is this because the own interest in "Dynojet"
They also fail to give spec's on jet sizes. Around here the kit costs $71.00. Plus labor if I go that route
Can I double up the squish gaskets at the header? This may give enough room to pull the pipe off the case

Optimum performance does not equal optimum drivability .... or gas mileage. What works on a Dyno, or at the track, may not be suitable for the street. You can a DJ or Mikuni jet kit .... they'll both get you to where you need to be.
Yes .. you can double up on the exhaust gaskets.

Thanks Doc.
* Soooooo...i don't need to jet w/ stock air box. AIS is gone
* Is it still a bad idea to re-use the old gasket for the doubled up pipe?
I need to ride !

Well.........two gaskets at the header and shims on the rear bracket.....still hitting cases....
Why so close HK, I still have an 1-1/4" of space between the pipe and the floorboard. Guess I'll be calling Cal. in the am.
BTW black pipes look great on a midnight!

Something is amiss ..I dont remember any issues installing bushrs HK 3" res techs other than removing the right side cover to access the manifold nuts
there should not be that much clearance to the floorboards...maybe 3/4 " and a least 3/4 " to the case ??
