I always had to turn mine to get it to hold out. Not any more after reading this thread. I tried tightening it first w/o any success. So I loosened it then retightened it. Now I can feel three detents.

What a great site.

I'm glad you asked this question. I've had the same problem and the suggestion to turn the tensioner behind the "choke" also solved my issue.

I asked this question a couple years ago...I thought it was some new Japanese technology. Choke goes in as engine warms up, automatically.

Hmmmmmmm standing way back ...in case your head explodes Its an Enricher...provides more gas not a choke....cuts back on air... sorry couldnt help myself ...dont take this as anything but informative I thought the same thing at first ...hmmm but then again I might be wrong.... Coug

But they " Yamaha " call it a choke. I bought a chrome CHOKE knob from Yamaha... didn't I???
