big bore kit 2 Years, 1 Month ago  
i have been thinking about doing the big bore kit to my bike. bigger pistons ported heads flatside carb. already have ported manifold dyna 3000 pipes rejetted and it runs real good now but always looking for more power. dont want to loose the reliabilty so dont want to go full bore with cams and such but what about bigger valves? anyone have the kit already and how do you like the difference? thinking about using patric racing parts. any info would be helpfull and how much the labor was it to get it done. i have a 05 midnight star

According to the Sppedstar catalog, the racing heads come with the "stock valvetrain". They don't even throw in the Speedstar valvesprings, you have to buy them separate. Basically, Yamaha had them ported and polished for better airflow but used regular valves. Don't know about thet Patrick stuff though.

As far as I know, the Patrick Racing valve job is porting and using the stock valve train. The springs and larger valves are a separate purchase. You should contact them to get the details...
