Front Tire wear pattern 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago

The front tire of my '07 Roadstar Silverado w/ 15,700 miles is wearing strange. The tire is close to needing to be replaced. The left side is wearing more than the right. That is, if you divide the tread area into 3 areas left, center, and right, the left area is noticeably more waorn than the right or center. What does this represent?

You must have great roads there, I just replaced my factory tire with 10.200 miles on it. Good for you!

If "Left" is as you sit on the bike, this would represent normal wear from crown of road. If you were more in the passing lane the right would wear down 1st. The rear will wear the same way. It's not as wide as a Auto tire and there are two instead of four just two reasons why this happens. Anywho, it's perfectly normal. MC

That being the case, my tyre should wear more to the right side as we drive on the left side I'll keep an eye on that one.
I wonder....Is it possible to take the tyre off and turn it over, thereby evenly distributing the wear and maybe squeezing a bit more life out of the tyre......or do they have to be mounted in one direction??

Now that's scary!! I wouldn't do anything to try and "squeeze out a few more miles" with the front tire. One mile too far could cost you your life.
I had to change the original rear tire at 11,000 miles and that was probably 1000 too many. The original front lasted 15,800 miles. It also had more wear on the left side, and for the last few hundred it started cupping on the right side and developed a "shimmy" if you would turn loose of the handle bars at highway speeds.
From all the stories I hear that is excellent mileage on any brand or cruiser original tires. The dealer says I should expect better with the Metzlers I installed, so we'll see.
But don't try to get those last few miles out of that front tire. I ride with a fellow who thought his rear tire should make another 100 miles: turns out it only made it 96. Even on the rear, that blowout taught him and me both a good lesson.

I will have you know that getting that out of a front tire is a good thing, I have a brand new ME 880 Front waiting for a tube to come in, as soon as I can, its going on.
The Bridgestone I have on now looks great with a reasonable amount of tread left.
But I dived into a turn the other day and it felt like it was sliding or pushing. So its coming off.

Thanks everyone and dryriver I got about the same out of the rear tire as you did. My front is getting the shimmy as well. I guess it is time to buy a tire... any recommendations from anyone?

Hi FL_rider
I don't know if it is the reason of your wear pattern but for sure something to check when you replace your front tire. The stainless hub cover in the center of the brake disc is different for left or right. There is a weight glued inside the RIGHT cover, none on the left one. I can't tell for sure the reason they added this on but I believe it is to eqalize the centrifugal force from the belt and pulley on left side. I may be wrong but anyway it's something to check.
