New Metzler 880s WWW 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Just had new tires put on the front and back wheels of my bike. While riding home it seemed to be like riding on glass. These tires are slick, any movement and the bike heads off in a new direction. Any information on how long it takes these tires to get broken in and start sticking to the road better? I read some articles that said that new tires were slick and had to be broken in, but haven't found any info on the Metzlers. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ride safe...

Probably what you are feeling is the way the bike is suppose to feel like. You are now riding on ROUND tires with a lot more pressure in them. I felt the same way when I put my new ME 880 on the back, I thought i was all over the road. Its just that my other tire was so shot the bike would almost stand up on its own. Not to worry, just make sure you follow the Metezler tire pressure as they are higher than the other guys.

Ride on brother!!

I put the metzlers on my bike, the front 5000 miles after the back. The front did handle differently. Two days later, I rode 345 miles. When I got back they seemed to be handling fine, but I don't know if the handling changed or if I just got used to it.

Thanks! When I got home, I told my wife I was going to have to learn to ride the bike all over again. With the other tires you more or less lugged the bike around corners and avoiding obstacles. With these tires, you think about moving in a direction and they are already there. Probably will get a feel for them after a few hundred miles on them. The other tires had 12,000 miles on them and were getting pretty flattened out with cupping around the sides. It is like having a new bike.

Ride safe...

Usually on new rubber they advise you take it easy for the first 50 to 100 miles or so, And then give her Hell!!!!!!!!

They are for this road star rider, I wasn't having any luck with the other tires, so I went with a 160 gold wing rear, it fit and its wonderful...
I love my Met so far!!

I've noticed it takes 2-300 miles to get them broke in. You just have to get them scuffed up.

Like Bill Jr., I've heard that you should take it easy for the first 50-100 to let things get seated.

Nothing like fresh tires.
