The tires are marked with a specific rotation direction. I personally would not flip it over and rotate the tire in the opposite direction, especially after so many miles in the other.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Just changed my front tire same for the thing left tread worn but tire was smooth no cupping. My 1st tire cupped with about 4500 on it. I talked with some folks that I ride with they said to run Green Slime in it. I have'nt had the problem sence. But now the dealer wont stock the stuff. Why?

Now that's scary!! I wouldn't do anything to try and "squeeze out a few more miles" with the front tire. One mile too far could cost you your life.

I had to change the original rear tire at 11,000 miles and that was probably 1000 too many. The original front lasted 15,800 miles. It also had more wear on the left side, and for the last few hundred it started cupping on the right side and developed a "shimmy" if you would turn loose of the handle bars at highway speeds.

From all the stories I hear that is excellent mileage on any brand or cruiser original tires. The dealer says I should expect better with the Metzlers I installed, so we'll see.

But don't try to get those last few miles out of that front tire. I ride with a fellow who thought his rear tire should make another 100 miles: turns out it only made it 96. Even on the rear, that blowout taught him and me both a good lesson.

Point well made, I totally agree...dririver...My point though is that if uneven wear is a concern...then if we rotate tyres on the family car..and in the mining / construction industries, tyre rotation is a critial part of safe operation...perhaps tyre rotation will possibly achieve optimum tyre life - safely

Motorcycle tires are sold as front tire and rear tire specific and they are directionaly marked so you can not rotate them safely...Coug

Coworker and riding buddy runs beads inside his tires. Swears it smooths it out and keeps it balanced without weights.

If "Left" is as you sit on the bike, this would represent normal wear from crown of road. If you were more in the passing lane the right would wear down 1st. The rear will wear the same way. It's not as wide as a Auto tire and there are two instead of four just two reasons why this happens. Anywho, it's perfectly normal. MC

That being the case, my tyre should wear more to the right side as we drive on the left side I'll keep an eye on that one.

I wonder....Is it possible to take the tyre off and turn it over, thereby evenly distributing the wear and maybe squeezing a bit more life out of the tyre......or do they have to be mounted in one direction??

NOOOOOOO don't do that. Most tires wear in and settle on a direction. Once that is established if you take it off and turn it around the thing will come apart at the worst possible time!! I know most will say that non radial tires are not directional, but that front tire is not worth your life.
