Just thinking 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
There has been some discussion about the rear spark plugs having a different color than the front cylinder spark plugs. Many people mention the lack of cooling to the rear cylinder.

I believe that the firing order has a lot to do with the different colored spark plugs. Correct me if I am wrong, for I am wrong most of the time. Just ask my wife.

I am not sure which cylinder fires first in the combustion cycle. Since they are not 180 degrees out the two intake strokes are close together. I am guessing that there is a flucuation in the vacuum or flow in the intake manifold that either leans one cylinder or enriches the other cylinder. Does this make sense? Possibly a pulse or lag in the manifold flow.

Any thoughts?

Stan

Well like I always say "I could be wrong but" after the engine is running don't both cylinders fire before/after the other?
I mean it's not like they go 1 2 stop 1 2 stop more like 1212121212
See what I mean, and again I could be wrong.

4 stroke engine Thom,, they alternate..when one is drawing, the other is firing, then the one that just fired drives the other back up so it can fire, when it fires, the other is drivin back up for the exhaust stroke..and now I've confused myself ....if it were a two cycle, I believe your right...

edit: watch my avatar, the valve timeing is a little off, but you'll get the idea , a pic is worth a 1000 words...

Actually there's been lots of discussion about carboned rear cylinder plugs...
And, I've always enjoyed the distinction of being the exception to nearly every rule...
When I changed my plugs at 19K this is how they came out...

Now, to be the exception to the exception... if you look close... my left side plugs (both front and rear) are tan where the right side plugs are clear...
So, figure that one out...
