My midnight silverado light bar has a switch on the left light. I assume this is for cutting on and off of the running lights. Is there an inherent problem with this switch? I have had my running lights not come on untile I road the bike for 15 minutes. Short?

Those are always assembled by the dealer. If it was a short it would probably take a fuse out. Sounds like it might be a bad or loose connection.

I removed the switch and wired around it. Lost that little nut and mine wasn't working. Didn't care for the setup of having to reach around the windshield to flip the switch either. Mine is wired to a kury switch on my master cylinder.

My wire vibrated loose from their lousy soldering job to the switch. I ended up disposing of the switch and connected the two wires together. My light bar is always on but then again I never turned it off before.

I had the same problem with shawdy design on the same switch. While investigating the head light rattle, I opened both passing lamps and accidently wiggles one of the connections loose. So the inner electrician took over and I just wire nutted the wires together. I never liked that switch anyway, so I think that I am going to a marine supply store and picking up a boat quality switch that is going to fit the hole they drilled(with terminals and not stupid solder connections with no holes for the wires) I will let you know what I find...

Ya know, after hearing about the less than wonderful work done by (st)dealers, I'm feeling pretty good about my shade tree electrical work I did on my lights.

    Thanks guys!

How do you guys take the lamp assembly apart on the passing lamp? My center light has a screw around the outer race but the two passing lights do not. I have a light out and need to check the connection or replace it but I cannot figure out how to get the light apart.

There's a small screw at the BOTTOM of the lamp housing. Unscrew it and then there's a tab on the top that holds the rim of the lamp onto the housing. Lift UP the rim vertically, lifting the tab out, so as to not break the tab.
