Engine bars 5 Years, 5 Months ago
Ok it's time for me to buy a Christmas present for myself because "I'm a selfish Bastard" (I was told that at one time. Well ok, she said that a few times) Looking at engine guards. What do ya all think of the Cobras Fatty Bars? I haven't seen them on a bike yet. Do you think they might look too big? I have a 06 Midnight. I took yesterday off just to ride. It got up to 77 here in Raleigh. Hope ya all made it through that storm in the Midwest. Looks like we might get wind and some of the cold temps this weekend.

I have the fatties on my 06 Silverado and think they look just right.

On another note if you want to add highway pegs you will have to get 1 1/2 inch P-Clamps to fasten them to until someone comes out with pegs for the fatty.

Looking at some engine bars also (figure I'm going to need them as those black R*s try to nudge me off the road

I've looked at both the Yami big bars and the Cobra's. Think I am going with the Yamaha's. I thought the Cobra looked a bit big, but that is probably more of a personal preference. One of the guys I ran into at one of the dealers said he really like his Cobra bars. I think Yami does a good job with the chrome parts, seems to be designed well as far as appearance and durability (although they charge to much!)

We all deserve to give ourselves Christmas presents! Happy holidays!

One thing to keep in mind with Engine guards is that only a couple will work with floorboard ext's. I know the Yami big bars and road king bars will work there may be be one other. But that's it. Just something to be aware of.

Not us Bluesdawg, that means we would have to slow down to give you that nudge

Hey Gramps,
I have aset of Cobra Fat Engine Bars on my '05 and a set of Kuryakyn pegs. I get many compliments on them. They look awesome on the RS. The RS is a big bike, and big fat bars look good on it! Cobra makes nice bars, if your'e gonna put a set on your bike, might as well make 'em wide enough. I laid my RS over on the wet slippery grass (when washing it and tried to move it by foot without motor running) and the bike just tipped and rested on the bars and never even scuffed a thing.
The Kuryakyn "harley-style" pegs are heavy as all get out, but they are QUALITY pegs and I am very happy with my setup, it take you about 100 miles of riding stopping and adjusting the pegs to get 'em just right though, they'll adjust to any angle you want. -StarMyram
P.S. (I only let the bike go over because I would have wrecked by back tryin' to hold 'er up at that angle ...and a wrecked back ai't good for ridin' when I'm bed ridden with pain- and we don't want that now do we?. Felt like a dumb *, and had to go ask my wife to help lift 'er back up straight. Talk about a dent in my ego )

I have the fatty bars on my 04 midnite star and they look great. Must use 1.5 clamps but they are no trouble to get now. Would not want anything smaller now.
