#125530 Helmut (User) If you can't be young be immature Senior Boarder Posts: 376 Rear Shock Install 3 Months, 1 Week ago   Finally after 5 weeks my 930lb shock arrived from Baron. I installed it in just under 1 hour. Can't say enough good tings about the install tool from Baron. Worked like a charm. If you have to replace the spring get this tool. For 40 bucks it is way cheaper than having the stealer do the job. IMHO.... it should have been standard equipment from the factory. I've also just installed the Heavy Duty spring, after fitting the Barons lowering kit. Only travelled about 70klms since fitting the spring but already noticing that I'm not bottoming out and the ride seems a lot more controlled on cornering, etc. Early days yet but the improvement is certainly noticable.   Logged     The administrator has disabled public write access. #125853 MotorMike (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 26 Re:Rear Shock Install 3 Months, 1 Week ago   Question for those of you who have changed over to this spring - Riding 1 up braking - with the front brake applied How does this spring change the braking? Is the rear tire more planted when you apply the rear brake? One thing that annoys me about this bike compared to some other same class bikes I have ridden - is you can unload the rear tire so easy if you slightly (I mean slightly overload the front brake). I weigh around 250+ lbs and am 6'1". I've only done a few miles with the new spring. I always apply rear brake first to ensure a bit of drag and straight line are maintained before applying front brake to wash off more speed. On my Road Star (2007) I find that the brakes are probably a bit underdone compared to other bikes I've ridden, i.e. I really have to lay into the brakes to get a solid response. I use 7.5W but for your weight 10W might work out better. When I say my ride was bottoming out before I installed the HD spring I feel it was also bottoming out in the front as well. I can hear and feel my front end and windscreen jarring.
