Yes ... if the front bottoms out you either have too little oil or you need heavier oil ... unless the oil is old and broken down. Heavier weight oil will reduce the front end dive but it will, of course, also be noticeably stiffer when going over bumps.

I'd try a heavier oil. I'm 180 and find 7.5W good for me.

Yes lock up the rear tire. I have and 05 with 12,000 on it. I brake the same as you are saying. The front shocks are so soft and colapse pretty fast with not much of a wieght transfer letting the back tire lock up very easily. All the Road*s Ihave been on are staokc and they all do the same with me. The other bikes I have ridden don't have this issue.

I'm 185lb. I bought my 2007 RoadStar in June 2008 and it has only 3,000 miles on it. I haven't experienced the back wheel lock-up yet. I'm going to follow Doc's suggestion though and try heavier oil in the front forks as I am experiencing bottom out in the front end.

Good luck with this...MotorMike....I'm sure there will be someone here with better advice than I've been able to provide.

Regards...Emu@Oz

What about the front Progressive springs? Wouldn't they do the job just as well as the heavier oil?
