PMS for Stage 1 exhaust mod 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago
I have done the Stage 1 exhaust mod and the bike was running poorly at idle and cruising speeds. After reading numerous threads on here I figured out that there wasn't a clog in my jets, I needed to adjust my PMS. Drilled it and adjusted out 1/2 turn at a time and it's getting better. My question is for a stock 1700 with just the Stage 1 exhaust mod, ballpark, how many turns out on the PMS. I know all bikes will be somewhat different, but I am about 1 1/2 turns out more than the factory setting and just wanted to know if that is alot. Thanks in advance.

Set your idle up around 900 to 950. SLOWLY turn the PMS in until the motor stumbles. Then counting the turns screw it back out SLOWLY until the motor stumbles again. Half way in between should be pretty close. So if you went out 3 turns go back in 1 1/2.

When adjusting, do this with or without the breather on? The reason I ask is I don't have an adjustable PMS. Thanks. h

I does not matter whether you do it with the air cleaner on or off (it's easier if it's off). What you are doing is setting the PMS to a point where you are getting the maximum revs.

If you can hook up a tach, then it's much more accurate than you ear.

Does the stage 1 mod void factory warranty?

Seeing as after market pipes doesn't void the warranty I would say no. However, I'm sure it would void the warranty as related to the pipes.
