dose anyone know sombody running a magnacharger on their bike? looking into getting one and wonder if they are worth the price. they dont look bad and its the only supercharger i have found for the roadstar. dose the gas mileage go way down or stay the same? would you buy one again? and do they work good? i want to keep the reliabilty but would like to go faster. thanks kdavid.

The bike in the lower right of this page (yellow flame chopper) is a Road Star running the magnacharger.

When I worked at AEE Choppers in 1971 we put Jerry Magnuson's first blower on our kit bike Sportster hopper. It changed that hunk of iron in to a real runner in an instant. I've wanted one ever since and if I had the money I'd sure put one on. I have to tell you though there is nothing that will make some think twice about your bike like blower whine!

A normal engine sucks the mixture into the cylinders. A supercharged blows the mixture into the cylinders; increase the blower pressure and you get more mixture into the cylinder, more mixture into the cylinder means more power, more mixture into the cylinders to produce more power means more fuel consumption, which means less mileage.
Making the cylinder work harder means more ware and tare. More ware and tare means shorter life and less reliability for the engine parts.
You need to consider not only the initial cost of purchase amd instalation; but also the ongoing increased cost of maintainance and operation. All it takes is liberal quantities of portraits of dead US patriots.
If you want to go fast you bought the wrong bike; get a hyabusa or something like that.
