WHAT OIL? CHECK THIS OUT!!! 3 Months ago
I'm sure some of you "veteran riders" have seen this, I just feel that it's a very good way for you to make an independent decision as to what oil to use Read this and I mean READ everything it actually explains WHAT the different tests actually mean and how you can decide what oil to use based on type of bike and conditions. Grant it it's Amsoil done, but you'll see Amsoil sure isn't #1 in all categories.

As a dealer, that is part of the training and literature that is sent out monthly. (Amsoil) I see a lot of people run auto oil, while your engine may not blow, it will cause harm long term. Considering how long a RS can go time and miles wise with no rebuild, who knows how long it takes to damage and engine with improper lubrication. You can only "Think" you are getting away with it. It will work, but the truth is hard to deny. Mobil always comes in close to Amsoil, I often even wonder if they have something to do with each other. Amsoil has a warranty across the board so, how can you deny that?

The PDF discloses some interesting observations though, Some big names had small numbers where you don't want them.

Check out TufOil's website, and their comparison of some of the same lubricants. I've been a user of it for at least 25 years... and it definitely works, as I have holed an oil pan before and lost all oil and pressure some miles from home... ran it anyway, and when I pulled in the drive, I didn't turn the engine off, but let it idle a bit just to listen to it to see if I could hear any bad noises. That engine was completely unharmed!

Made me a believer!

I have been running Castrol in all of my bikes and trucks for years with no problem. This is a real thought provoker though. Really makes you think about what you should be running.

Tore down my engine for customizing at 60k after running Mobil 1 20/50.
Measured all the parts as they came out and all of them were at the top of their service limits. Synthetics all the way!

I used to own my own class 8 truck, you read things like this link, make a decision and then do oil analysis, That will tell you how long you can run it and what it really does. But it's not really cost effective at $15 a pop. I tend to believe what they publish as they have to answer for it.

My Next change is Amsoil with 14 Ozs of Lucas Oil Stabilizer, that quiets the top end down in mine and that's what I am going with. Plus Amsoils ea oil filter is a one year act. You certainly save money with synthetics and being we are air cooled, it sure is piece of mind when sitting in a traffic Jam or doing a Parade. Amsoil for me but if I wasn't a dealer I'd be going Mobil One V Twin with a Wix filter.

I gotta get that castrol out of my GF's 750 though, scary!
