This thread is a bit dated since I have had my
AIS and all SMOG stuff off for months now.
As for grief from a dealer - you must never have heard my trouble with the dumb asses at Concord Yamaha and how I had to get my lawyer involved to get them to replace the
carb THEY broke. Was priceless to watch the shop owners face when he said "We have NEVER adjusted your carburetor" and I handed him 4 reciepts (all within 600 miles of buying the bike - I TOLD YOU IDIOTS IT WAS TOO LEAN!) clearly stating they HAD adjusted the carb several times. (they had broken the
PMS Screw tower pulling the plug it appears). I will just do all my own work. More trouble for me, but cheaper, less stressful, less chance of a heart attack and less chance of going to prison for choking some stupid punk mechanic to death ("Sir, your problem is you do not know how to use a choke." Punk, I have been riding bikes with chokes for about 15 more years than you have even been alive - I suggest you get your boss before you really piss me off.)
I have heard most local shops are about on par with these guys. Would be nice to have a good shop that I could trust, alas, the only reputable garage in the area appears to me MINE.
