Re:Cobra Speedsters installation 5 Years, 2 Months ago
So the consensus is that the TV protrudes more than the stock filter housing? I hope not. My leg rubs it too often for me. (6ft.) I thought I read somewhere that it didn't stick out as much as the stock box? Hmmm

Oh well, this far in dollar-wise, it's too late to stop now. Already bought the Twin. I looked at all of them and thought it was the best compliment to the bike's looks as it is now. The BAK almost had me sold until I read how the Twin Velocity is supposed to feed air more efficiently. I also saw a magazine write-up somewhere that said the Twin produced more power and flowed more air than the BAK. Hmmm Maybe I read it wrong. It's easy to get corn-fused these days.

Anyway, the Cobra pipes went on pretty smoothly. The loctite was tough on some, but nothing was over-tightened. A few too many pits and imperfections on the pipes for my taste, but the price was right. I paid and even $300 on Ebay including shipping. The sound is awesome! Probably louder than I wanted though. It's definately on it's way to becoming a hot rod and I love it.

My neighbor, who is the reason I bought a street bike after not having ridden for almost 20 years, is green with envy at this point. He bought a C50 Boulevard a couple of months ago and the sound of him pulling out every afternoon after work was jut too much for me. So I went looking and came home with this beautiful candy red Roadstar. His first words were "So you just had to buy something bigger, didn't you?" I told him I wasn't purposely trying to out-do him. I just fell in love with it when I saw it and knew it was right for me. His Suzuki is nice, but I'm glad I bought something big enough for my wife and I to cruise on. I would have been upgrading quickly if I had bought something smaller.

Next is the Twin Velocity and carb jetting. That should be interesting. I have an Innovate Motorsports analyzer I purchased for my drag car I plan on using to get the air/fuel right. It should make it easier. Haven't finished my drag car yet so I'm looking forward to using these new tools and my laptop to get the v-twin tuned up.

I did get a DynoJet kit for it and welcome any suggestions, tips and general flibber-flabber on the subject.

Happy Riding!
