I have a 04 R* 1700 with the vibration so bad it makes my hands go to 'sleep', more so on the throttle side. It has a full factory windsheild with the lowers. Has anyone had a problem like this with the vibration going into the handle bars, was told it could be motor mounts, but checked them and they are all snug. Bike has 28,000 miles, with new dunlop tires, Any help would be nice. Thanks.
Its hard to tell how bad yours is without riding the bike, but yes, I would say the vibrations are certainly felt in the handle bars. You feel it in the throttle side more because you grip tighter with that hand. I had to go to a cramp buster on the throttle for longer rides to prevent it.

I guess they all viberate at diffrent areas on the bike. I feel no vibration at the handle bars but a great deal on the floorboards in all gears and at all speeds . Some people state they do not feel any vibration at the floorboards. If I put my hand on the gas tank, I feel vibration, is that normal?

I have to say that I feel lucky. After so many years of H-D's I can actually see out of the mirrors on my Roadie. I just don't have any complaints on vibration and only a couple of minor engine noises. It wasn't that way when I first got it tho.
A lot of the noises and vibration went away when I got the jetting right and changed to synthetic oil.

As far as an 08, Im lost.Them are still touchy, dads is an 06 and we put on a BAK and I ported the manifold and rejetted.
Big boy is right on jetting though, the better you have it set up, the less vibes ya get, I dont have any noises unless my yami lowers are on, they are the only thing that makes noise, but I got rid of that with rubber washers and loctite , they only move a little now and no annnnoying sound.

Same for me. I had an old Panhead and couldn't see out of the mirrors. I have vibration sure, but my mirrors are steady as a rock! It's just not something I dwell on I guess. The guy I bought my Roadie from bought a Road King and he says it has muchmore vibration than the Road Star and he didn't seem all that happy.

Got to be something wrong with the RK then. They are much smoother than the Roadstar everywhere except idle. My mirrors never bounced around, but I certainly had vibration in the handle bars. I guess it depends on what you rode before you got the roadstar. I always thought the Roadie had a little to much vibration, but i came to it from a Honda that I had to gas the throttle to make sure it was still running.

I've had this vibration since I bought it new. I really notice it on the floorboards and gas tank. I have asked the dealer and all I hear is that it is normal. I have asked this forum and the responses are "yes it's normal", "nature of the beast", "It's a V-twin expect vibration". I have approx. 800 miles on my 2008 $14,000.00 Silverado S and about to trade it in on a bike that I can enjoy riding, perhaps a Kawaski or HD.
I also have the '08 Road Star Silverado "S" and like you was surprised and dissappointed at the amount of vibration. Especially running 55-60 in fourth gear (fifth gear is too high at this speed) and running 70 in fifth gear. I almost got rid of mine in the first month I had it. I've had it three months now with 4000 miles on it and either I'm getting used to it or it is loosening up some and not vibrating as bad. Probably a combination of both.
I always thought the Harleys vibrated worse than the other v-twins and was surprised after buying my '08 silverado to find it just the opposite. The harleys do vibrate at idle, but once you take off they smooth right out. The silverado is just the opposite. I plan to ride mine for a year or so and then get a Harley touring bike.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I ride a R* 2005 stock. A have some vibration but they are noticable at the windshield/lowers, it vibrate at certain speeds has stated by other owner.
I believe they are related to harmonic, windshield and lowers will vibrate at around 55 mph in 4th gear, dissaper in 5th while riding at 60/65 mpg only to show up again at 70/72 mpg and again they go away at 80mph +.
If you touch your gas tank or tripple three, minimal vibes. Last year, I replaced Bucks lowers with Wind Wippers with a much better results as far as buffering and vibration.
Also I used rubber spacers as an experiment under the windshield mounts and was able to shift the vibes higher or lower depending on torque value on the bolts. I believe that most riders stating no vibrations must be guys riding with no windshield. There are some vibrations, however, they do not compare to vibrations at iddle or when slowing down as is the case with the Road King,
