It's supposed to have a cover on it though. Did you take yours off?

It releases the compression on the motor during start up so the motor can turn over easier.

the bike doesn't start does it? If it does, I bet it strains hard to get a crank...you should get one.

Bought the bike without what? The cover or the solenoid?

When you push the starter button it does two things. One of course is to activate the starter, second is to actiivate that solenoid which opens the valves a little to relieve the compression; making it easier for the starter to turn the engine. It should have a cover on it to keep dirt out!

I know the DS bleeds pressure off below the cylinders for easier starting.Has anyone seen one stick in the open position and what was the results???....Coug
