Have you tested your bike for intake manifold leaks?

I had mounting vibrations when I got my bike used from my BIL. He had no problems and did not clean the K&N filter. Result - SVS and a vibration bad enough to rattle your eyeballs out. I treated the SVS and it runs much better. When engine/air temps fluctuate, it seems to vibrate more or less.

I wonder if I still have carbon deposits on the valve stems that act up with certain temps.

Has anyone removed the heads to check out SVS and looked at them afterwards? I would like to know how things looked in the heads: valve stems; valve guides; springs; ports; piston heads.

I do get vibes that make the bike uncomfortable to ride. I cannot imagine riding for more than an hour at a time, especially in NJ.

MidStar07: Do not get locktite any where near your windshield! It is not compatablle with the plastic! It will cause the plastic to crack around the screw holes, and eventually destroy the windshield.

Thanks Clifford....I'll just keep an eye on 'em then.

Keeping that mess snug really stops the shakes!

Hey Rayjay,

My bike is really new, and I think it just has a characteristic vibe at this very narrow rpm band. Keeping things tight (windshield nuts) improves the situation a lot.

But your deal sounds more serious. My bike is pretty much all-day comfortable. I could easily pull 500 mile days on her.

If you touch your gas tank or tripple three, minimal vibes. Last year, I replaced Bucks lowers with Wind Wippers with a much better results as far as buffering and vibration.

I have Bucks lowers on mine which helped some but if the Wind Wippers work better I would like to try them. Where do I purchase them?

I looked for wind whippers but the numbers listed for them was no longer good. I heard the guy moved back to the mainland and stopped making them. maybe someone will know how to get a hold of him. He was in Hawaii last I knew.

I'm either going to order a set of these, or make a set. I had to take my HD chrome lowers off when I installed my lower fairings, and now get a lot of buffeting. Quess I had forgotten just how much the chrome HD lowers were helping.

OK, now I'm really trippin' out. Not only did adjusting my PMS quiet the knocking down by about 50% or more, but the vibration that I was getting that caused me to start this thread is GONE This bike has a mind of its own, and I think I like the way it's thinking.
