#130716 dougc (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 16 Clearance between bags and exhaust 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago   I am installing some generic saddle bags on my V Star 1100. What is the recommended clearance between the bottom of the bag and the exhaust pipe? The bags are of a leather-like material. Real leather would be more able to take the heat than any synthetic that I know of so err on the side of caution. If you want to run them closer to the pipes maybe you could sew some black leather to the bottoms as a shield. Exhaust is on the motor/main frame and the position of it relative to the bags in constant. The rear wheel is on the swingarm and travels independent of the bag. I had roadstar on the brain.
