This puking thing is so wrong... What would be the chances of filing a class action suit against Yamaha to get some relief from this issue? I don't do anything anyone says here about shutting off the petcock before shutting off. I've had my bike 4 years and have experienced this just once. If yours is doing this all the time, it could be something wrong with your bike. This is not normal. Junior Boarder Posts: 128 Re:gas spiting out behind the air fillter onto eng 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago   ahh yes the gas pukeing roadie.took my bike to the stealer at least 4 times for it this summer.bought it new this year but is 2007.they had rebuilt the carb and adjusted the float level several times and they finaly called yami.yami said to set the float level 1 mm lower than suggested and also suggested to run mid grade gas because on the hot days the cheap gas boils over quicker.not saying this will be the same for everyone but it has worked for me.my bike used to puke gas alot.to the point i was loosing intrest in riding it.hope this helps.   Logged     screwy louie   The administrator has disabled public write access. #130828 RoadstarB (User) Take off work and RIDE, You can work anytime. Gold Boarder Posts: 704 Re:gas spiting out behind the air fillter onto eng 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago   I've only had this to happen one time on my 06, since then I've gotten back into the habbit of turning my fuel off and no more problems,,,I used to have to this all the time on my old HD Sportster so it was easy to get back into the habbit....more than likely the float level is high and or the needle is sticking when it gets hot.........Nature of the Beast, carberated big engine, lots of heat! Just to add a little to what Flashback said. It's been my experience that if I would turn off my petcock five to ten seconds before shut off, that I had no puking at all. My hypothosis is that the back pressure between the pump and the carb in the lines would build up from fuel expansion due to the heat of the jugs surrounding it combined with the lack of airflow. This slowly forces the fuel into the carb and out the overflow. I came to this conclusion after I moved my pump down under the right side cover and have had no problem with puking since, even though I leave my petcock turn on all the time.
