The throttle grip , you have to take the button of the end and use an allen wrench and unscrew the chrome end and then take the housing apart to unhook the cables, and you may have to loosen the cables at the carb.

Clutch side, do the same with the cap and the chrome end and you can either cut the grip with a razor blade or stick a small screw driver between the grip and handlebars to get it loose.

The throttle side is the worst, just make sure you readjust your cables.

never did my bike it came with isos
but when i did my buddys harley getting the grip off the plastic throttle sliding thing (that is the technical term i think) was very very very hard and we ended up giving up..the stockers were rubber and i was actually about to slice them off with a razor but he did not have the replacements yet and didnt want to be without grips, then we ended up just being lazy and leavin the stock ones on...they can be done but definately have to work that throttle side off and break the glue between the grip and plastic thingy majiggy

I think the differance is in the brand and type of grips you buy, a friend of mine bought a set of grips that he liked ( $18.00 ) and they didnt have the throttle sleeve in them and I had to do what you described to get them on.

I always say you get what you pay for......
