THAT'S 5TH OUT OF SIX, I WENT TO #4 ALREADY AND IT RAN LIKE CRAP, COULD NOT ADJUST OUT WITH PMS SO WENT BACK TO 5TH. WOULD LARGER PILOT HELP, I HAVE A #50& #60. YAMAHA KIT INSTRUCTED TO USE 50 FOR INITIAL SETUP BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK WITH M165 MAIN. SOMEONE SUGESTED THE M170 WITH STOCK #35 PILOT AND HAS SEEMED TO WORK, THAT'S WHERE I'M AT FOR NOW. I THINK I CAN PULL THE TANK AND FILTER, REJET, AND REASSEMBLE WITH MY EYES CLOSED NOW!

You probably need to get the exhaust breathing a little more free before any of the mods you have made will really help much..Like Moondog said, more in/ more out..

I note in your last post in another thread that you're still having problems. How is your bike currently set up?

What's up Doc,
Well its's a long story, First I got new exhaust (V&H powershots) and was somewhat successful in getting it to run OK, but not real good. so I got rid of the speedstar jet kit and breather and went with the Maxair Maxflow W/jet kit. Runs good now except for some carb cough coming off idle. I'm working on tweeking that out now with the accel pump timing and duration adjustment and linkage. (found some good info in the forum from a guy named chris,nosleepgeek, about 4 yrars ago!) seems to be making sense and working. Long story short, Speedstar jetting is way too rich on the pilot (#50!) and too lean on the main (I understand their instructions are only suggestions, but the jets provided are just wrong IMHO). Anyway, I'm currently running a 190 main #3 clip, 37.5 pilot, PMS 2.75 turns out, float adjusted to 16mm above float bowl seam upside down method all Maxair stuff. I still can't get the speedstar ignition module to work, but haven't tried since the Maxair install. I want to thank all who have shared their knowledge, wisdom, experience, strength and hope, it is invaluable to those of us who are learning the ways of the Roadstar! thanks for your interest as well!
