Oh yes they are if you buy new ones you will see there is material just like the felpro gasket sandwiched between the cooper. I know because I just bought new one a couple of weeks ago.

The gaskets that come on the bike are not crush gaskets. Maybe the ones they sold you are.

Yep they were I had my old ones and they looked solid but the new ones are like the felpro with copper coating except for the outside edges. I wonder if they figured out that the old style didn't seal well and that is why they changed them.

I am going to be replacing my Krome Werks with the stock exhaust soon, so I bought new gaskets at the dealer. Just wanted to be safe. They were $21.95 for the pair.

According to the Service Manual the torque on the exhaust nuts is 22ft/lbs.
Reusing the stock gaskets has worked fine for me but I have a set of the Felpros just in case.

if you have the old gaskets and they are the firmer wider type oem..and they stay...lodged in the heads when the exhaust is
removed..it doesnt hurt to put put some crush gaskets on between the exhaust header and the oem gasket...that is where
dissimiliar pipes have made different impressions and a leak might occur...especillilly as in the case of my Cobras there is a weld line across the mating face of the header pipe...not all pipes have this weld line...
the crush gasket is good at sealing across these lines and impressions..but should be replaced every time the exhaust is changed...

the oems didnt.. the Megacone didnt... the road burners didnt.. but the cobra classics did...have the weld line...

and you have the beefer gasket for sealing against the cyl heads

and those allen hex drive nuts wont sink too deep on the exhaust studs so yer allen wrench gets a good deep grip

So you're taking the stock pipes off for the first time? Mines an 06 and has the solid gaskets. Maybe they changed for 07. That would be a good thing to know.

I had a similar issue with the Cobras and could not reuse the gaskets. Man what backfiring. Flame 2 feet long. I filed the mating surface of the Cobra pipe to remove the weld and get a better seal and put in new gaskets. No problem since.
