Remove Passenger Seat 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago
Guys,

Judging from these pics - http://picasaweb.google.com/DaveBWilliams/2001RS#

...can I remove the passenger seat and seat rest while keeping the saddle bags? Also, how do I get rid of the chrome support things that the seat rest plugs into?

Basically, I want to yank the rear seat and rest off while keeping everything else. Any thoughts?

You'd have to get eyebrows from a bike that didn't come with a backrest or live with the "things" sticking up. You can get a grab bar that takes the place of the backrest.

There is a button head allen screw at the rear of the passenger seat that holds it on. After you remove the seat there is another bracket under the seat you will need to remove. There will be a couple of bolt holes you will need to cover up, a buddy of mine has a chrome rack that he got from yami to take the place of the rear seat. On your saddle bags, you will need to remove the saddlebags and supports to remove the backrest supports. then you will need to find some spacers to take the place of the support so you won't drive your bolts in to far on the fender when you replace the saddlebag supports. Hope this helps, good looking bike

Yes, you can remove the seat, back rest, and backrest supports. you just need to put fender brows on instead of the backrest supports.

Where can I get the spacers that allow me to keep my bags but remove the seat rest?

I think they meant the second of these:
Ebay items:230306728079
Item number: 230306726524

Here's mine:

Comes with the chrome plug for the one unused hole.

Musky you sure have a way with words, I don't think you would make a good politician.
