BAK for the EFI roadstars 2 Months ago
|
|
Does anyone have any info on BAK for the '08/'09 Roadstars with fuel injection?
I already have Speedstar dragster pipes, but still have the stock airbox, filter and cover.
Thanks in advance.
Thom

Check Barons site or maybe email them.

Gave Baron's a try by email and this was the answer.
Although we probably will have a BAK for the EFI Road Stars down the road, there is nothing in the works right now. We have not had one of the '08 models in house to look at yet. Obviously it will be quite a while before one would be available.

You'll want to remap if you use a new air filter & pipes. Common issue on crotch rockets, they have been fuel injected for years so they run a new map to adjust fuel ratio.

K&N makes one for the FI Road Stars. The one I got was part# RK-3905-1. I also have the speedstar long drag pipes on my '08 and just got the K&N air kit and power commander III USB. Will be putting on this weekend.

Thanks, I'll check out the K&N BAK. I went with the Speedstar Dragster pipes with the O2 sensor mounts. I haven't found a need for a power commander.

Question for smith1j.... I love the look of your bike. I just moved up to a 2008 Road Star... Trying to decide on a windshield. I see you have the OEM Road Star windshiled. Do you like how it fits and what size did you get.?? I am considering the Medium, which is 20 1/2"... Is that the OEM light bar as well..?? Also considering the National Cyle windshield or a Memphis Shades. Anyone else with thoughts or comments about windshields and light bars for the 08.
Thanks in advance, Chris

You might want to start a new thread, you will get more responses that way.
EFI is a different animal than the carbs the Roadie has been using. You will see alot more about the PCIII and other fuel modules as time moves forward and more folks on here get EFI. Re mapping will be the question of the day vs re jetting.

Someone should give Patrick Racing a call. In my opinion, they have the best BAK for the Warrior. I don't see why it would be much different for the R*. For you guys who are new to EFI, your bike will run better with a new fuel module no matter what kind of set up you have if it is properly tuned. When I had my Warrior, I thought my bike was running great, then I had my power commander custom mapped by a professional on a dyno and there was a vast improvement in performance. There are several Fuel Modules out there. Shop around for the one that fits you best. Some are easier to mess with than others, for example, those of you who aren't so good a using computers may want to use a Cobra FI2000, or a Dobeck Techlusion which are adjusted with simple knobs, whereas the PCIII requires you to to plug it into a computer. I don't know what all is available for the Road Star, but those I mentioned were available for my Warrior and are now available for my Raider. If you guys are coming up short on the BAKs, I'd be willing to bet that you could modify a Warrior BAK to work, if it even needs modification. The only between the Patrick Racing BAK and the Baron is that the the Patrick Racing one comes with velocity stacks which is supposed help somehow, but I don't know how much. I'm just a Warrior/Raider owner. Thought maybe I could lend a hand in the EFI department.
