MidStar, I know what you mean about cornering. If you routinely scrape your floorboards the Dooleys may not be for you.

Sleep on your decision a day or to, or like in my case 6 months, then go for the choice YOU made. BARK ON!

Hello ,I heard on a V-Twin TV show that a aftermarket big-air intake breather gives your pipes a deeper sound.
Can anyone comment on that? .... And does anyone have the" Monster Pro" Pipes from Pacificcoaststar?

Re:Which pipes to get? 3 Years, 6 Months ago
I bought my bike with the Supertrapp Mean Mothers set on it; at first I was gonna remove the pipes--really thought they were obnoxiously loud...but after the first few weeks on the interstate, I noticed I wasn't getting passed into, and drivers were actively looking back to see what the noise was...I know some people say loud pipes don't save lives, but I feel they are a component as much as lights and good riding habits are. At idle, the sound is really nice, almost harley-like, but at speed they are not as low as I would truly like...just loud. Also, on decel they sound like a semi's engine brake; I've actually had truckers look quick to see what noise was on side of them when I let off the gas.

They are probably much louder than most would want, but I've decided its not worth the money to me to swap them out, and will keep them until I part with the bike. Guess all that really means is I can't plan a trip to Myrtle Beach

J&P Cycle told me the Vance and Hines was louder. I wanted a Cobra and love it. I have no direct comparison, but heard a Harley pull into a parking lot and it was similar in loudness to my Cobra. It is probably down to looks and brand preference. Good luck, roadie.

If you like Sportster tapered tip muffler look and sound, I bought a set of Santees off of eBay for $170, and I absolutely love them. Nice sound, appearance and weigh much less weight than stock.

If ever I can get my boy to post my sig pic (I'm a techno-illiterate) you can see them.

Vance and Hines Pro Pipe if you want power and sound when you grab a handful but not so loud cruising.
However you have to like 2 into 1 look. Not classic but lighter and more powerful which is my interest.

I say go with the look that you like and then tune from there, I know 2into1's makes more power but I just can't do those. I have the Hardkrome 3" staggards and cut the ends so the baffles are even with the end of the pipes (looks like Exiles) and looks thick. They are a little on the loud side and have a little bit of a "blat" sound; I tried the crumb catcher baffle but didn't like it, exhaust sounds better going thru something rather then past something. If you have the coin I would definately look into Rinehart, Barons "nasty habits", I like my Hardkromes, and Supertrapp. Somewhere somebody had a link to a R* only custom gallery and it had some bada$$ lg. dia. staggard Supertrapps. Those might be my next choice.

Anyone have these Roadburner 2-into-1's???

http://www.metricthunder.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=621817&Category_Code=EX27

I like the look, and wondering about the volume. Roadburners are typically on the quiet side, right???
