Well, there was a M165 in the kit as well, but I just installed the M172.5 and we'll see how it does.

I'll tell you, no tech article or instruction sheet can actually hit all the points you need when doing this. I'm sure there are some tricks out there, but for now, the carb is back together with main jet installed, new needle and PMS set as instructed.

I'll put everything back on the bike tomorrow and see how she runs. Maybe I'll luck out and all will be well.

Good to hear you got her back together,,at least if you need to swap the main, you can now do it with the carb on the bike, it's the easiest one... assuming you changed to the hex head bolts for the bowl, and removed the pms cap...Did you get a new pms screw as well, the stocker is a pita to get to...

Only new parts I got were the ones in the Barons kit. New main along with a needle. Buttoned it back up using the hex nuts. Using the vice grips to break the bowl cover screws free was a great idea. No trouble with those at all.

I did get the brass plug out with no trouble and adjusted as per the instructions.

Tomorrow I'll get all the parts on to get her running again and see what is what. Flashback, if you want to come by and check on me, feel free. I'll be around.

You may try the screw drivers in your tool kit the next time you split the carb, they are a Japanese standard screw driver head that is supposed to not bugger the screw heads like a phillips head will....Coug

OK, it's official: If someone like me who has 4 thumbs, is blind in one eye(really), and has a 3 1/2 year old as a "helper" can do this job and still have it start up and RUN, anyone can.

There were some bumps along the way. Sound advice from the great folks here smoothed those bumps right out for me.

Thanks again everyone - Ride safe!
