I need some suicide shifter help please 4 Years, 4 Months ago
Hey All,

I am in the middle of converting my Roadie to a suicide or jockey shift. I have set it up so it has a foot clutch. Everything works fine except the foot clutch is too quick to engage. There is little if any play in it and it stalls all the time because there isn't enough time to make a smooth and safe transition into first gear. I have tried many different settings between the new foot clutch lever (old shifting lever) and the clutch push lever with no luck.

Anyone who may have a similar set up and some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Eric

Thank you very much... I get asked that a lot! I bought it from a couple of guys that run a web site called Cal-Custom-Cruiser.com I'm not sure if they are around anymore or not it was along time ago. There was someone selling them on ebay but i'm not sure if they are metal like mine is.

It is indeed an authentic Indain Chief fender but it had to be cut in half and widened to fit the RoadStar.

Ericking99, if you fab some way to lengthen or shorten the arm that actuates the clutch, that will give you more pedal travel.

I have one I made myself that requires no foot action...strictly you engage and shift at the same time. Let me walk out to the garage adn shoot a quick pic. I might not be using it, so maybe we can work something out.

There used to be a kit from Marty's Road Star Jockey Shifters. Is this not available anymore? My bookmarks are not working.
