yesterday: my dealer say's he wont touch my bike 5 Years, 9 Months ago
my wonderfull dealer yesterday said he wasnt going to work on my bike or any other roadstar that isnt stock setup.
he told me that every rs that has come in plaged with problems has had the exhaust or airbox changed. he further said that every bike that has not been altered that comes in to get a pm service isnt having any problems.
i dont know if thats correct or not but he shur pissed me off and i got out of thier before i hurted him.
has anybody else had this problem with the dealers?

I don't have a problem with my dealer. But then I don't go to the dealer for service.

There are good and bad ones. I don't know what his problem is ..... he does get $X/hr for working on your bike what difference does it make if it's stock or not.

Unless the bike blows something, which I don't know too many that have, then you should be OK as you don't need any special tools to do most of the work. For example, that special tool to adjust the front head bearing isn't needed.

I agree with DOC.. but maybe this guy is pissed off because he didnt do the mods etc would he refuse to do Speedstar stages sanctioned and warrantied by Yamaha???then say ...I am not working on your bike because it isnt stock....No some dealers wont do service work if you didnt by the bike from them etc which they
must if its under warranty Will he change a tire if you have an aftermarket intake?? Find a good independent wrench... and there are lots out there that can work on your bike and others and tell your dealer to go suck on your tailpipe...My ex Harley dealer was an asshole...
PS you can buy parts on the internet and a good service Manual will make you smarter than most dealers

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2006/08/27 16:45

When I bought my Roadie they tried to sell me the extended service and I said hell no. They asked why and I told them what they had done to my last bike and I would "Never let another one of their hacks touch my bike again". The GM came out and asked if their was anything they could do to change my mind. I told him I would come there for parts or maybe to buy another bike but that was it. He took $300 off the price of the Roadie, apologized and that was that. So it's a good dealership but a lousy service department. I've worked on my other bikes so I figure I'll just learn this one too. If you want a dealer or bike shop you can trust look araound. It's worth it if you find one even if you have to go 50 miles to get there.

The Warranty covers your bike from bumper to bumper... If you have any tranny..brake ,suspension etc problems Since a mod in the engine does not
effect these..the dealer must service... If a problem occurs as a result of your
mods IE poor running/backfireing etc then we have an argument here..Keep your extended warranty because there is a lot more to a bike than the motor...

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2006/08/27 20:24

I wrench for a living and jump at the chance to get my hands on modified (Hi-Performance) stuff . sounds like your service guy is a text book mechanic . Anything that goes beyond stock leaves him with a severe case of dumbassity .

The dealer I bought my bike at has zero issue with slightly modified bikes (pipes, jetting,etc..) and has even been nice about answering questions. If any of you Atlanta riders are interested, its lawerceville (?) yamaha/honda.

My sales guy at Ron Ayers mentioned they had an ESP, never pushed it and said I had a year to get it. Unfortunately they're 200 miles from home or I'd use them if there was ever anything I couldn't handle myself. They're all riders and treat you as an equal, not a sap to suck money out of.

Re:yesterday: my dealer say's he wont touch my bik 5 Years, 4 Months ago
The R* was the 6th bike I bought from the same dealer. Because of that he was willing to match or come very close to any price I could find. I paid $10,700 out the door for a Silverado out of the crate. 3 days later I brought a friend in who bought a new V-Star. 4 days later he sold my trade in. They love when I come in. Any mod I make I run past the service manager so I CMA. Basically they have told me unless I go into the engine or tranny I'm covered. To me that is understandable. But I also don't ask for much. When my light bar broke I just called and asked for a new one. They found one locally, I got it the next day, but I put it on. I could have had them put it on but why? For principle? I still need to bring the broke one back but they know I will when I can. However, a good repore like this took a while to establish.
