Adjusting Float Bowl Level 5 Years, 3 Months ago
Roadies:

After installing my MaxFlo air kit, jet kit and MaxMix PMS screw, I MAY have to raise the float bowl level by 1mm (to 15mm) on my 2006 Road*.

This seems to be a tricky and potentially agonizing adjustment to make.

Assuming that the carb is on the workbench, what is the easiest way to do this and get it right the first time!

Thanks for any help.

15 mm

That's a new one. I can see why you're "agonizing".

I'd be inclined to try it with the 1 mm first.

DocShadow:

So, if I'm reading you correctly, you're saying try it "as is" first? In other words, you wouldn't mess with it.

Thanks for the link, but now I'm more confused than I was coming in!

I think I'll take the chance that it may be close enough. The manual says that the fuel level in the bowl must be 4-5mm above the mating surface. If it's on the low end, I may be okay.

Thanks,
Ray

Yeah, Doc doesn't mess with anything! Just look at his bike, there's proof!

The closer to the mating surface the better. At or a hair above max.

Post edited by: Big Bear, at: 2007/01/29 16:39

If you can get on it and not feel like you're running out of gas you are probably OK.

Yeah, that's the WOT test, right? I read about that somewhere.

Thanks.

Big Bear:

The manual says 4-5 mm ABOVE the mating surface and you're saying LEVEL WITH the mating surface. Wow - that's a 4-5 mm disparity.

What's the rationale behind your suggestion? Enlighten me, please.
