If you want to buy a good companion to the service manual check out the Clymer's manual, it's like the service manual for dummies. Perfect for me.

I didn't read this whole thread but asumeing nothing major is wrong $6500. is a steal!! Thats at least half the cost of a new bike, especially a HD. As far as the noise; Is this your first bike/v-twin? I thought the same when I bought my bike, then realized I was sitting on the engine/clutch/transmission. Think of it this way, try sitting on your cars engine/transmission and rev it up to 4000, shift gears and all that, I bet it's louder then we think. I thought my trans. shifted loud, then I rode to bike week the first time and listened to Harleys ride next to me; talk about "CLUNK" into gear. I'd recommend Mobile1 syn. 20w50 oil with Lucas syn. oil treatment. I'd try to find a nice dyno shop, have them search for the fuel smell and find out what jet sizes and settings you are at. Before and After they work on it. Or read the tech articles and dive in yourself, if you got some skills.

Re:Wondering if I got burned 3 Years, 3 Months ago
Thanks, good advice. Yeah this is my first big bike. I started years ago with a 250 Nighthawk, couple years ago my second bike bought from a friend was a '85 Yamaha XJ something or other...think it was a 650...then I bought a Suzuki Boulevard C50 2006. Loved that bike but always looked for more power. Sold it and bought this one. This one definitely has a personality or something. Different feel/sound every time I go out. You're right I need to get to a shop and have it checked out. It's probably fine, just a RS. I tried turning the fuel off after a ride and that seems to have solved the smell I think. I just bought some new pipes (VH Short Shots Staggered) and a Kuryakyn Pro-R Hypercharger. Excited about the pipes, not sure about the hypercharger. Bought that first cause I had the itch to do something. I think this 6500 bike is going to be worth aout 16500 by next year! Don't tell my wife.

I joined a few weeks ago and I continue to be amazed at how cool this is. Look forward to meeting up with some members maybe some time down the road.
