Help with bike mods 3 Years, 1 Month ago
I bought a 02 Roadstar Silverado and the guy installed high comp pistons, 43 Mikuni carb and a Dyan 3000. Now what I need to know what do you think the Dyan 3000 should be set at. Right now I don't know what it is set at I have to find out how to remove it so I can see. But wanted the info so when I get into here I will know what to set it at. I forgot he also installed a V&H header.

If he was smart he cut a hole in the battery box like the rest of us did so you don't have to pull the 3000 out to check it. If he didn't cut the hole then when you pull it out you should cut the hole yourself. There is a thread about here in the forum section also check the tech tips. As for what it should be set at that depends on how you want to to perform. They may be some guys on here that have something close to your set up that can help you out. Also do you know if you are running a VOES to replace the stock throttle position sensor?

I did find the thead about the Dyan 3000 on were to cut the battery box and I will do that. And as far as the VOES what is that I am new to the cruiser world always road sport bikes. And as far as what I want the bike to do is just help on the back fireing and hard starting. But when the bike warms up it's not as bad with the back fireing it feels like he put cams in it but he didn't say he did. Is there a easy way to tell if he changed the cams if so info would be great thanks for any help.

Highly unlikely he changed the cams.

The Dyna may be set incorrectly (it should on a B setting) and/or it may be improperly jetted.

The VOS is a vacumme operated switch that takes the place of the trottle sensor when you put a 42 or large carb on that doesn't have the trottle sensor. It hooks to a vacumme line and the wiring. Like DOC said it may be jetted wrong or you have a leak in your exhaust system somewhere. You best bet would be to get a detailed list of what has been done and what it has in it from the PO.
