Roadhouse Dooley Baffles 3 Years, 1 Month ago
Hi everyone,

It's been awhile since I've been around the forum, but still riding the heck out of my 2004 Roadstar Silverado, including a trip to Sturgis last summer. It's been running great.

Put on Roadhouse Dooley's about a year ago and love them. However, was wanting a little louder sound so this morning pulled the baffles and removed the thick muffler insulation that was wrapped around them. Put the baffles back in and went for a quick ride and it's definitely louder and closer to what I'm looking for so think I'll try it for awhile.

Just want to make sure this won't have any adverse effects. Since I still have the baffles in so was thinking it shouldn't affect backpressure much. Thought I remember reading a few posts somewhere where someone wrapped part of the baffle with sheet metal and clamps but not sure what that does differently.

Thanks!
Brian

P.S. - Just realized it HAS been awhile, my pic still shows the Hard Krome Res-Techs I had before the Dooleys! I need to update that.

Hey Brian, I just put brand new Roadhouse Dooleys on my bike and I already love the sweet ass sound they produce. How does it sound without the fiberglass packing in the baffles? Besides much louder....

The stock packing in my Road House 2 into 1 had large holes blown through after 400 mi..................I pulled of the packing and it sounds great!
I bought the "quite" baffel when the wifey comes along for the longer rides. It's the same baffel but has a larger area of packing....much quieter and only takes about 1 min to change

Hi guys,

Just got back from a 3-hour ride this afternoon. I like the new sound, it's definitely louder but kept the deepness, and I think most of the loudness is out behind the bike, as the rider I didn't find it annoying at all. Maybe just a touch of metallic hollowness to the sound but I would need to do an A/B test to really compare. The bike ran good, I think any differences in performance were probably just in my imagination because of the sound change.

My friend who rode with me said it sounded great, noticed right away it was different. Another friend of mine I stopped at came out his front door and said he thought it was his dad's Harley pulling up. I will have to switch bikes with someone so I can ride behind and see what it sounds like.

The weekend is over for me but I'll try to take some pictures when I have some more time of the baffles pulled out and the muffler batting. It's pretty thick stuff. The baffles came out pretty easy with a rubber mallet so it's not a hard thing to try. I'll also try to do a video of the exhaust if I get real ambitious.

Brian

Brian - any updates on the Dooleys? Video? Pics? Sound clips? I'm thinking I'm gonna take off the packing around my baffles (it looks like steel wool.. weird).
