Power Commander III 2 Years, 9 Months ago
08 Roadstar, running Cobra pipes and Hypercharger intake. I installed a Power Commander when I put the pipes on. Ended up taking it off because I couldn't get it to run right. I explained this in another section of the forum but didn't get any hits on it. Maybe someone can help me this time. I took it off before because the motor surged or felt like it was sputtering when I held the throttle in one spot. If I run the bike through the gears it doesn't do it. I only does it when the throttle is held in one spot. It feels like one cylinder was not firing all the time. I took it off and the bike ran fine with just the pipes. Just recently put on the Hypercharger and put the Power Commander back on. It still does the surging but I found if I hold the throttle and let it surge, after approximately 30 seconds the motor starts running fine. It feels like the computer made an adjustment. If the bike cools off and I ride again, it goes through the same procedure. Sometimes it takes longer to "smooth out".

I haven't tried it without the Power Commander since I put the Hypercharger on. I was told I HAD to reprogram the motor with the Hypercharger because of the larger air flow. I am just guessing, but the problem feels electrical. I checked the throttle sensor connector and it is tight. The directions on the Commander say to disconnect the fuel sensors on the pipes. I have them disconnected but was wondering if that was a place to start. Does anyone know if I plug the sensors back on the pipes will it damage the on board computer with the power commander installed? Or will it damage the Power Commander? I have e mailed Power Commander and waiting for a respnse. Wanted to see what anyone has to say here.

I have the Power Commander set for my year and model bike with modified exhaust and intake.
