Well I let my bike sit longer than I planned on. So I finally got around to draining the old gas out. Put in new gas, bought a battery.

I got it started after a while, now it is finally idiling smooth, but his hesitating/sputtering a little when I give it gas????

Also what would cause it to just die/cut out when I put it in gear. I even had it reved up a bit and every single time I put it in gear...it just shuts down. same as if I were to hit the kill switch.

Its an '01 Yamaha Roadstar

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you putting it in gear with the kick stand down?

Might want to run a couple tanks of gas with Seafoam in to clean things out.

You can get seafoam from any autoparts store like Autozone or Napa
Just use about 3 or 4 capfulls in a full tank.
Next time you store your bike put "Stabil" in the tank to stop the gas from going bad.

Have fun!

Don't want to start a stabilizer war here

But I also use Seafoam as a stabilizer and my bikes have always fired right up.

Yea Seafoam at Wal Mart and heck of a stabilizer and good down to like 60 below? I mean Musky might have to use a double shot in his parts but 60 below does us good all winter long here in Ohio.
