stage 1 vs stage 3 2 Years, 9 Months ago
Last weekend did the stage 1 procedure to my stock pipes and thinking of going to stage three. How much louder is stage 3 vs stage 1? 50%, 25% etc..
Thanks.

Much louder than stage1. I would guess 50-75%. In my opinion stage3 sounded good...real good. I ended up putting on a set of Supertrapp aftermarkets only because on of our good friends here on RSC gave them to me. Stage3 three is very close to straight pipes. Still quiet enough in town and neighborhoods if you don't get on it hard.

Couple of suggestions:
Make sure you grind entirely through the small wels holding the cone and the baffle. Drill a couple of small pilot holes in the cones and insert a large long lag screw to use for pulling the cones.

When the time comes for pulling the baffles be PATIENT it takes a LOT of wiggling to break them loose. I udes a couple of 12 inch crow bars wedged in together so that you can twist and pull at the same time. The faster and longer you willgle and pull stress the welds in the back sie alowing them to break free. Just when you figure you cant wiggle anymore they will pop out ... you will feel it when they give.

Another thing, wrap your pipes in a large old towel to protect them from getting scratched while wiggling them to death.

If you are sure you want the full stage three you can save some time and do as I did with a slight modification on the stage 3 drilling. Instead of drilling with a 15 inch long drill bit into the front baffle plate I took a long 3/4 inch round steel bar - sharpened to a point on one end - took a mall and punched through the front baffle in three places. Very quick and easy. GREAT sound.

You can see the 3 places to drill (or punch through as I did) in the actual photograph on the link on stage 3 mods in the tech section.

Hope this helps in you decision.
