That sounds good. But after you push it in 1/2 way hop on and go. Letting the bike sit and idle especially with the choke on is bad for it. After 1 to maybe 3 or 4 miles depending on temps push it all the way in. Just take it easy until it's warmed up. These bikes are cold blooded and just plain aren't happy until they get warmed up. Set your idle when the bike is up to full temp. It will be lower when it's cold. Try that and see how it goes.
