installing Roadhouse Moto Classic slip-ons 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Just Bought a pair of Roadhouse Moto Classic Slash cut slip-on mufflers being the careful old fudd that I am ( 30 years as a machine designer) I don't like surprises. You know "oh good grief I don't have all I need and Iv'e got this thing in a hundred pieces, got to break loose and go hunt a tool or part".Well, having printed all that retoric, let me ask some folks who may have installed a set of these mufflers just what (if any) problems they ran into. For example, the instructions for installing the Moto Classics are fairly detailed. However, there is nothing mentioned about an exhaust gasket. When I called Roadhouse the rep told me they probebly had been left off by mistake and that yes, I would need a new gasket. After a question, she confirmed an OEM gasket. Now comes the clencher. The OEM gasket is a braided steel ring approximately 3/32" thick with the inside diameter slightly smaller (probebly .015" then the ID of the Roadhouse pipe, and the outside diameter is larger than the OD of the Roadhouse pipe by close to 1/16". Soooo, if this is supposed to fit between the header pipe and the Roadhouse muffler something is going to have to stretch alot and be reduced alot on the OD to fit, unless the Roadhouse muffler can be installed without a gasket,as the instuctions imply. Can anyone answer my question. Is the gasket unnecessary or am I going to have to figure out how to get 10 lbs of s##t in a 2 lb sack.
