From my own experience with the factory dunlops I will have to say the tire is just prone to cupping. I replaced original rear at 5000 miles and then had to replace both at 7000 miles. I did have a little more usage from the rear tire but as I was changing brands did not want to mix. Front tire became so bad that when front brakes applied the handlebars would jerk left to right. New brand of tires and no problems with wear or cupping.
