There can't be a warranty issue with a recall. It's recalled cause it could kill you (not that I haven't been riding without it for thousands of miles). I have mine scheduled for the winter at my Yami dealer, and it's an '01! I'd call Yamaha and have them explain to the dealer how a recall works.

Just got a call from the dealer, they say they can get the broken bolt out without pulling the motor apart, and they say they can plug the hole and everything will be fine...sounds like the cheapest way out to me! Maybe it's time to get on the phone with corporate..

Re:Recall done? 2 Months ago
Out of date on the recall, I've heard that before. . .My dealer told me the same thing. . . .there is no "Out of date" if you haven't had the recall done, Yamaha will still do it. . . .now the warranty on the work AFTER the recall is done. . .that's a different story. . . .the Yamaha Technical Bulletins will go out of date from what I understand. After my dealer told me that the recall was out of date on my '01 I called Yamaha Customer support and they told me what I just passed above. They also told me where I could find the mark that would let me know the recall was done. . and it was. . .

Re:Recall done? 2 Months ago
It really bothers me to hear they wanted to charge you 50/50. They broke it when they put the cases back togeather, so that's 50% your fault....I don't think so. As stated in a previous post, be nice and calm with the owner , anything he states, try and get it in writing. If not to your satisfaction, then the next step is a letter to Yamaha, your states attorney general, the better business folks, and to have some fun go to rip off report .com. Don't knuckle under with the 50/50 thing, that's the oldest game in the book. Good Luck Brother.
