Bike turn on with choke then of when choke off 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Bike turn on ok. I let it warm up and take choke off then bike dies. I can keep bike on by reving throtle, but get some backfire. Recentlly did oil change and had battery charged at autozone. Bike sat for about 40 days.

We need some more info about your bike. Exhaust, BAK? jetting? other mods? year etc. Did you check your plugs for fouling?

Could be a lot of things, but what you can be pretty certain of is it is not getting gas. My guess is primary circuit is clogged so the scoot won't idle.

If it's been sitting for a while the jets can get clogged you can try some sea foam in the tank, I would recommend draining all the "bad" gas and refill with fresh. Look in the tech section about carbs and you can easily take yours apart and clean it out.

BTW where are you located?

I agree ... start with fresh gas.

I would also take the carb apart and clean it out ... being in hot CA you probably had a lot of evaporation with resulting gum deposits.

When you're in the carb, write down the jet numbers for future reference.

Sounds to me like the pilot jet is clogged. I have an 03 and had a similar situation. Turn off the gas. Take off the airfilter housing so you can see the carburetor. take out the 4 screws that hold the float bowl and remove bowl. The float has two "pontoons" with a space between them. In that space are three brass jets that are small, medium, and large diameter. The large one is the main jet, is right in the center and sticks out the farthest. The small one is the pilot jet. Take it out with a screwdriver and hold it up to the sky or to a lamp. You should see a nice round hole through it from end to end. If you can't see through it then it is totally clogged, if you can see through it but it isn't round then it is partially clogged; blow it out with compressed air. The small diameter end should also have four holes perpendicular to the main hole, in two pairs. You should also be able to see through them. There is a screen on the fuel valve in the tank, there is an inline filterand a small screen at the carb inlet. With three screens or filters in the line; how does trash get into the carb to clog it up?? Darned if I know but it does!
